This new two part series will discuss some key elements of how libraries work. These sessions won’t be about books, but about the science of how visitors use the library and how libraries are arranged. In part one we will show how beneficial the Aspen catalog is to users and teach some tricks to help you help your patrons. We will also present library best practices and industry standards in terms of shelving and selecting materials for the library. The presenters will also discuss the pros and cons of subject/topic shelving also known as genrefication.
