One representative from each public library and member school district we serve governs the Central Kansas Library System. We meet twice a year to conduct official CKLS business. The executive committee represents all member libraries and meets monthly at libraries around the System in our 16 taxing counties to conduct regular monthly business.
The executive committee has three 3-year terms open, (two incumbents have finished their first terms and are each eligible to run for one of the open 3-year terms) and one member is finishing their second term and must go off the executive committee. There is one open 2-year term available. In addition, we need one librarian representing school libraries.
We request that trustees from our libraries allow their name to stand for nomination for these executive committee posts. CKLS pays mileage and meals for travel to monthly meeting sites. Request an application from CKLS by calling 800-362-2642 or download it from the web site (scroll down to Executive Committee Nomination for Public Libraries or School Districts). The election to the executive committee is held at our May meeting.
