In 2014, CKLS is offering the facilities competitive grant. The guidelines and applications are at https://db.tt/jwcp6QGa This year’s grant comes in two sizes.
- 1.Many grants up to $5,000 will be awarded. The total money for these grants is at least $30,000. These grants are for “repairing or improving the library’s exterior or interior. Acceptable building and remodeling expenditures include paint, furniture, shelving, contract labor, making library ADA compatible, landscaping, creating special areas for children, teens or seniors, etc.”
- 2.One grant up to $10,000 will be awarded. This grant is for larger versions of the building and remodeling projects. If the winning application is less than $10,000, the remaining money will be used to fund more of the smaller projects.
Libraries cannot apply for both sizes of grants.
As with all competitive grants, both grants require matching funds based on library size.
This workshop will explain the two sizes of grants, explore possible projects, and the application form. Question 8 of the application recommends including supporting documentation with the application. One piece of documentation could be Harry Willem’s facilities evaluation. During this workshop, Harry will discuss how to evaluate your facility inside and out.
As always, CKLS staff is available to help you brainstorm ideas, wordsmith and edit your writing.
Grant guidelines and the application are at http://cklscompetitivegrants.blogspot.com/
The application is due October 3, 2014. The decision will be made in October and the money distributed by December.
