Human-Centered Library One-Day Conference
January 20, 2014
8:45am - 3:30pm
Salina Public Library, 301 W Elm Street
Libraries circulate stuff, but library staff serve people. Andrew Burkhardt explores four ways to create a "human-centered library":
- build trust among staff and between staff and patrons,
- focus on strengths by asking better questions and looking for bright spots,
- understand your community by listening, experimenting and learning, and
- make meaning through common vision and shared values.
After Andrew's presentation, all staff will participate in an "unconference" allowing participants to create small group discussions of Andrew's ideas or any other topic or issue they wish to discuss with their colleagures in the three libraries.
This one-day conference is by invitation only and is specifically for administration and staff at Great Bend Public Library, Hays Public Library, and Salina Public Library. Free lunch will be catered. Register with your designated library representatives for this event.
