Introduction to Excel is for those unfamiliar with Excel.

What is a spreadsheet and what can we do with spreadsheets?

How do I type in numbers, currency, percentages, text and formulas?

Are there shortcuts I should know?

How do I add and delete cells, rows and columns?

How do I make spreadsheets more readable and attractive?

How do I print spreadsheets?

Lunch

On March 20, 2014, the Annual Reports Workshop introduced an Excel spreadsheet for collecting and storing statistics for the State Library and System annual reports. Since most libraries keep more statistics than those required by the annual reports, most librarians will need to modify Data Collector. This workshop will ensure your modifications will work correctly. Even if you didn’t attend the March 20, 2014 workshop, you can still attend this workshop because, by time we are done, you will understand the purpose of Data Collector spreadsheet.

To the afternoon follow-up workshop, please bring the following:

Examples of the data you collect each month. You will be modifying Data Collector to accommodate collecting and storing this data.

Your modified Data Collection spreadsheet on a flashdrive or your own laptop.

The afternoon follow-up support focuses on modifying the spreadsheet. My goal is that you will have completed modifying Data Collector by the end of the workshop. The workshop will start with adding the rows needed to collect the additional data on the printable sheet. The next step is to ensure that these additional rows are also made on the other spreadsheets. The following step will be to check our work to ensure the changes are correct. Chris will also be there to explain more exotic changes. If there is time, we will practice hiding and unhiding columns to prepare monthly print outs.

Data Collector is available at the following addresses.
